The grading system below is to assist you in making your purchase. This grading system is for the item ONLY, not its packaging. Please read it carefully, as well as a full description of the item.
GENERAL GRADING SYSTEM
TRACK GRADING SYSTEM
C-10 MINT: Item is in brand new condition, all original, unused and unblemished.
NEW
C-9 FACTORY NEW: Item is brand new, all original, unused, may show factory rubs and the slightest evidence of handling, shipping and having been test run at the factory.
GRADE 1: used, needs some cleaning, no broken ties, no missing joiners, no discoloration of ties.  Can be used inside or outside.
C-8 LIKE NEW: Item is complete and all original. No rust, no missing parts, may show signs of being on display and/or age, may have been run.
GRADE 2: used, some cracked or broken ties, no missing joiners, possible discoloration of ties. Would not recommend using inside, but still in operational condition.
C-7 EXCELLENT: Item is all original with minute scratches and paint nicks, no rust and no missing parts. No distortion of component parts.
GRADE 3: used, oxidized, cracked broken or missing ties, possibly missing rail joiners, discolored or painted ties. Still functional but will need a lot of work.
C-6 VERY GOOD: Item has minor scratches and paint nicks, minor spots of surface rust, free of dents. May have minor parts replaced.
C-5 GOOD: Item has signs of handling and/or play wear with scratches and minor paint loss. Small dents, minor surface rust. Evidence of heavy use.
C-4 FAIR: Item may be scratched. Moderate paint loss, dented missing parts, surface rust. Evidence of heavy use.
C-3 POOR: Item requires major body repair. Heavily scratched, major rust and missing parts. Restoration candidate.
C-2 RESTORATION: Item requires restoration.
C-1 JUNK: Item is useful for parts value only.
